Max Design GesMBH developed a Falling Block Puzzle game in the year 1992 called Think Cross. You can play it online now.
Think Cross description
Amazing puzzle from the Austrian developers, in some places called a "Tetris clone" that is actually very far from the truth.
The gameplay follows. Each level has a "wall" with projections and recesses, and below – ground between these "walls", also with protrusions and recesses. On the projections and the recesses are blocks of different colors and shapes. The player's task in each level for a certain time (the game is time limited, but not very hard) to make disappear all the blocks.
Blocks disappear when two identical blocks (that is, form, and color) are touching each other vertically or horizontally (at the highest levels of the game is changing – there already it is necessary to simultaneously contact three or four of the same). At first glance it may indeed seem that the game is similar to Tetris, but in fact it is not. Yeah, the units here often have to drop down, but you can also move them left and right if there is space. The blocks will not fall, but calmly stand their ground. But in flight to change their location is impossible because there is no need to form any "lines" to make them disappear, just as has been said, the contact is completely identical pieces.
Maybe by reading the above game seem very simple, but in reality this is not so. First, it requires precise control. The unit could accidentally fall (in the moment when you move it) somewhere in the bottom, even below ground. To raise him out would have no way, only to throw him on top of the same block (if possible). Second, often the situation when one block is sandwiched between two very different blocks, and on top of some ledge that is up to him really, and not to let the same block to destroy it, and here it will have to build in mind the whole tactical scheme, how to get rid of it.
Graphically, the game is, at least in this kind of things this point is usually not measured, looks very, very bad – this is the "eternal" graphics. Verdict – a unique and interesting puzzle game that (so in the middle of levels- exactly) really is the real "test thinking" and a lot of fun intuitive controls, beautiful in design and sometimes difficult, but very fascinating puzzles. All lovers of puzzles will surely be enjoyed.
