The second text adventure game created by Scott Miller in the company Apogee, future Creator of the Duke Nukem series. The first game in the genre of interactive fiction of the developer, Beyond The Titanic, appeared a year earlier, in 1986. Supernova is not its continuation, although it uses the same engine. In addition, if the predecessor at its core was a real historical event, but now the entourage is completely fantastic.
Our hero (before he can be given a name) – a miner, extracting metal on a planet that has seen the best of times. Now every day for its inhabitants struggle for existence. In order for the player to feel the urgency of the situation, two measures were introduced, the values of which are critical to survival, health and thirst. If the first is consumed as falling into different situations, whether it be a fight or some other trouble, the thirst level gradually increases constantly, with every move or action.
The action begins in a city bar in which our glorious miner will have the chance to get re a far less respectable occupation, but generating more income. Hence will begin the path at the hot merciless sun of the planet.
All actions are performed exclusively by typing commands from the keyboard - no no graphics, only textual descriptions of locations and events. And therefore wins the Supernova, as in other similar games, not agility and speed, but care and prudence. And a willingness to not always unexpected, but unpleasant twists: this world is harsh, cruel and ugly, to find his place in it will not be easy.
