In 1988, Accolade, Inc. released a Action game named The Train: Escape to Normandy. You can play it online here.

The Train: Escape to Normandy description

Adventure game and at the same time, so to speak, "train simulator" in the entourage of the Second World war on the same film.

The action takes place in the summer of 1944, when allied forces have landed in France and liberated Normandy. Realizing that the war is likely lost, a German General decided to take on an armored train in Germany the most valuable works of art. But two members of the French Resistance, Pierre Lefebvre and engineer Le Duc, hijacked the train and now needs to be able to take pictures of it under the control of the Allies Normandy. It is clear that you play for them.

To be honest, after all this game – much more "train simulator" and action than adventure. After the train you have to watch very carefully – and for all its systems, and the amount of coal and water, and steam, and, finally, just for the speed and fuel consumption. There is a mode of the strategic map by which to determine its location with respect to the ultimate goal of "travel".

It is clear that the initial supply of fuel is not reached. Therefore, it offers the railway station, where you take on coal and water. Is needed, not "possible" because most of them are under the control of the Germans. The weapons you have, but it is much easier just to avoid hassles. But where they are unavoidable – so it bridges to a floating enemy boats, so the opportunity to drive must first be shot from the big guns these boats. There is also the possibility of communication by radio with the Resistance – your friends can help you with the seizure of any station, then you have no problem stocking up there fuel.

Graphics in the game is in the colour relation is quite poor, but it doesn't interfere with gameplay. On the contrary, it really fits the atmosphere of the game: the game is about war and should be dark, in my opinion.

This game for some reason sometimes compared to Great Escape, which, in my opinion, should not do. This game is very different, and though, of course, cannot match the scale and complexity of GE, but still more than worthy lovers fancy adventure games.
