UMS: The Universal Military Simulator description
Turn based military strategy, which can hardly be called a "real" wargame, is more of a conventional simulator battles.
The choice of a large number of different scenarios (not campaigns) from historical to fantastic (there are specified initially – for example, the battle of Hastings or Waterloo, but you can create your own), it is possible to scale the battlefield (the scale has several levels), but it helps a little because the charts have no games at all: all the gameplay will unfold on screen is divided into tiles the map where a particular division marked even not have any icons, just the squares with letters. Map this, we must pay tribute, presented in isometric perspective, but there was a little - due to above mentioned "features" of the display units. If units much (and it happens), then their names on the map, "mix" that makes the game even more inconvenient. Of naval battles there.
Formally, the game is really detailed and allows you to manage many (sometimes very minor) aspects of the battles, but there is no slightest sense of presence, and the interface to the difficulties superior to any traditional wargame. However, more than just the history of the games UMS is known for the fact that it is almost the first time there was such a thing as "fog of war".
Unambiguous recommendations do not give; someone will probably like it, but still with so many old series that is, in my opinion, clearly not a favorite even for fans of the genre.
