Remember the good old time of playing an awesome video game which made sad and long weekends happy and exciting? Violent Myth, released by Dysing Information in 1994 is exactly that game. Replay here.

Violent Myth description

A very simple fighting game from a little-known Taiwanese developer Dysing Information. At this time we offer computer fights between very unusual participants, several representatives of the Chinese Pantheon of heroes of various myths...

Yes... few know the composition of the entire Pantheon of Indian or Egyptian gods. So, in Chinese culture they are no less. In this fighting game you will play for the eight deities. Their names unfortunately not specified. To list a description of each of them just does not make sense: there need to be a specialist. Pathetic attempts to somehow understand the Chinese Pantheon of drowning in the huge number of deities, mythical heroes and no less mythical emperors. In this game, participants are allocated colorful deity-cock - apparently, the developers represent the mythical bird Fenghuang (鳳凰). Only one fighter, Not ja (哪吒), there's definitely recognizable by its unusual appearance (looks like a boy with hair of dark color, and yet it is a bit long-eared). By the way, about his adventures can tell RPG of the same name (封神榜, Fengshen Bang, 1995) for the platform NES. The other members are typically depicted in Chinese anthropomorphic creatures. There are both male and female deity.

Then you need to finish a lesson of cultural studies and go to gym class – that is, to consider the fighting component of the game. Unfortunately, she simply "no". Can't even use keyboard shortcuts in attack and when moving (about as!) – can be pressed only one button. Types of attack are only two. The status indicators of the fighter involved, too, two. The first is, as usual, health (in the inverse interpretation – damage). The second indicator ("a breath" or "qi") behaves very unusual: continuously accumulating and is reset to zero, and then begins the growth of his power. That's all, nothing more interesting.

In contrast to the incoherent part of the game, the graphics are done very artistically and beautifully. Though the soldiers and minimally animated in battle, but their colourful appearance clearly shows that a resolution 320х200 are sorely lacking here. Indeed, in later games it is possible to notice on the images of Chinese deities, there are so many small details that dazzled. The music in the gameplay is not bad, but the sounds represented at the minimum level only for voice attacks each of the characters.

Well, what can say? The game is very weak. However, it should be noted that for the company Dysing Information it was one of the first projects. The interface is made in traditional Chinese. The characters are in the main menu, consisting of only four paragraphs - the language issue will not be here. This game creation even somehow afraid to advise any fans of hyperactive aggressive "mortalkombat", but the diligent researchers of the culture and mythology of Ancient China – it is possible to recommend. Let the study and at least understand the name of each of the characters, the names that the developers did not even bother to write...
